TAMPA – The fan fare from All Star weekend dissipated quickly as the hotel lobbies emptied, displays were broken down and the ice inside Amalie Arena melted away on Monday to make way for the re-start of the season.
And that comes at the league leading Tampa Bay Lightning quicker than a Steven Stamkos one-timer.
The players – including All-Stars Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point, Andrei Vasilevskiy and Stamkos – boarded a plane on Monday and headed North of the Border for Winnipeg ahead of Tuesday’s meeting with the Jets.
The push for the playoffs begins in earnest starting now, and as comfortable as the first half of the season proved to be for Tampa Bay, there is a lot of work to do down the homestretch.
Here are five things to look for as the Lightning open the unofficial second half of the season.
