All the makings of the “scheduled loss’’ were in place for the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday.
End of a five-game road trip. Back-to-back situation. Blowout loss the night before. Backup goaltender making his first start. Division rival looking to make it a physical game.
As it turned out, the Lightning were also up against the officiating as well on Sunday while also witnessing a teammate leave the ice after a scary situation.
Tampa Bay brushed all that aside to come home with a 5-2 victory against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena.
