Carey Price still reigns but Tampa Bay Lightning netminder Andrei Vasilevskiy primed to take his throne

For the better part of the past decade, Carey Price has sat upon the throne as the top goaltender in the world.

Challengers to the throne have come and gone during his reign only to be swatted away like a weak wrist shot from the blue line.

Andrei Vasilevkiy has played this season as if he’s a true contender to wrestle that crown away from the Montreal netminder.

On Thursday, Price showed he’s not giving up his title to the challenger from Tampa Bay just yet, outdueling Vasilevskiy in a 2-1 shootout victory for the Canadiens. But after watching the two go back and forth on this night shows the margin between the two is razor thin.
