TAMPA – Tampa Bay’s hometown hockey hero will serve as captain when the stars descend down upon the region later this month.
Steven Stamkos was voted as one of the four division captains for the NHL All-Star game, which will take place at Amalie Arena Jan. 27-28. The vote, conducted online through NHL.com, ran from Dec. 1 to Jan. 1.
Stamkos will serve as captain for the Atlantic Division during the 3-on-3 tournament format while P.K. Subban will captain the Central Division, Alex Ovechkin the Metro Division and Connor McDavid the Pacific Division.
The remainder of the teams will be announced by the league on Jan. 10, and Stamkos may not be the only Lightning representative to participate in front of the home fans.
