TAMPA - Parades tend to be times of celebration or jubilation.
Marching bands belting out toe-tapping tunes, festival queens and their court promenaded on a float with tiaras while offering a waive and a smile to the children lined up along the sidewalks. There are beads or candy tossed down from floats as treats.
When it comes to the Tampa Bay Lightning, parades generally start on the water with boats, jet skis and lots of beer. Lots and lots of beer before ending with speeches filled with colorful language and shirtless players riding across the stage on carts while waiting out the rain.
