BRANDON, Fla. - As the Lightning entered the Christmas break, the goaltending - normally a strength of this team over the past few years - came under some fire.
Ben Bishop was injured, diagnosed with a lower body injury suffered during a game on Dec. 20 and expected to miss 3-4 weeks. Andrei Vasilevskiy was immediately thrust in to the role of filling in as the No. 1 goaltender.
But when he faltered on a back-to-back situations in Washington, questions about whether he was ready to take on the role started to creep in to the equation.
