Dan Girardi is playing in his 12th NHL season, but the Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman still has the humble roots he established as a kid growing up in Welland, Ontario.
“I think Welland is a very hard-working, honest town and very family-oriented. Mainly everyone knows everyone, which is a good thing,” Girardi said of the Canadian city with a population of just more than 52,000 people. “I am very lucky to grow up in a city like that.”
