Long gaps without games valuable for recovery

With blue line absences aplenty for Tampa Bay Lightning, it’s been mix, match and adapt

BRANDON - Up and down. In and out. Healthy and injured. Banged up and sidelined.
It's been the story throughout the season of the Tampa Bay Lightning black and blue line.
When someone returns from injury, another is out. When a player goes down, they've seemingly had company in the trainer's room.
At every point in the season through the opening 48 games of the season, at least one defenseman has been out of the lineup due to injury. In total, the Lightning have used 11 different defensemen to this point in the season and only one player has suited up for more than 45 games.
