BRANDON – Throughout the course of the regular season, a team likes to develop an identity.
That means establishing a style of play. Identify team strengths and playing to them.
It’s not an overnight process. It starts in training camp and continues to be reinforced throughout the course of the season so that style of play becomes habitual on the ice. By the end of the season, in theory, it’s no longer about thinking how to play, it should be knowing.
By the time the playoffs come around, the identity is clearly defined. Nothing changes.
Sort of. Well, maybe. Perhaps, just a little bit.
