TAMPA – After months and months of wondering what path the Tampa Bay Lightning needed to navigate to achieve salary cap compliancy ahead of the 2020-21 NHL season, the answer materialized in an unexpected and potentially devastating manner.
With the start of the truncated regular season right around the corner, Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois announced that the team will be completely compliant when the regular season starts on Jan. 13 at home against the Chicago Blackhawks, but only because of an injury that will keep a perennial All-Star out for the season.
