TAMPA – The Tampa Bay Lightning entered the first day of free agency by focusing on taking care of one of their own.
Tampa Bay was always going to tread lightly in to the free agent waters this season – unless you count courting John Tavares, who left the Islanders for Toronto – with an eye on keeping a large portion of the roster intact this season and beyond.
While the Lightning landed a couple of depth players, the biggest news of the day came less than 10 minutes in to the free agent window as Tampa Bay re-signed defenseman Ryan McDonagh to a long-term contract, locking up the veteran blue...
