TAMPA – Had anybody placed a wager on the meeting between the top two teams in the league on Jan. 18 being between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the expansion Vegas Golden Knights, it might have parlayed in to a bigger bank account.
Yet, here are these two teams, meeting a week before the All-Star break sitting atop their respective conferences past the half-way point of the season. A team that failed to make the playoffs against a team that existed only on paper at this point last season vying for the top spot in the league.
