BRANDON – Free agency season arrives at noon on July 1 and for the first time in a couple of summers, the Tampa Bay Lightning expect to be on the playing field when action opens up.
The past couple of summers the Lightning have essentially sat on the bench watching things unfold, concentrating more on their own players or looking to improve the roster in Syracuse.
But when the gates open this time around, general manager Julien BriseBois at least has the option to venture into the deeper ends of the pool and has already shown that willingness during the free agent interview period.
