TAMPA - Trying to win Stanley Cups carries a price tag.
Most times, the price paid ends up in a consolation prize (which isn't really a prize) of some sorts. Out of 32 teams, or out of the 16 teams that make the playoffs, only one captures the Cup.
Of all the moves being made around the NHL leading up to Friday's trade deadline, most of them will be deemed as a bust for giving up assets without winning a championship. But most general managers around the league in position to make the playoffs are always on the lookout to bolster their roster.
With every move made, there is risk and scrutiny.
