CLEARWATER – In the midst of the oppressive summer Florida heat, Nikita Kucherov still finds ice to his liking.
And for the next decade, Kucherov will continue to make his home on Tampa ice.
Kucherov became the latest Tampa Bay Lightning core member to be locked in to a long-term contract with the team after signing an eight-year extension on Tuesday. The new deal, which begins to start the 2019-20 season, is worth a total of $76 million and carries an annual salary cap value of $9.5 million, which makes him the highest paid player on the team.
