TAMPA - Modern All Star games look very little like their early brethren.
The days of the Stanley Cup championship team facing off against a roster of players combined from the other five teams in the league as a fundraising event. All Star games, in general, are also a long way from Pete Rose bowling over Ray Fosse.
Now, they represent more of a showcase event meant for corporate sponsors to put their advertising powers to practice.
There are enough fan representation to be sure, but when it comes to the game for the National Hockey League, it has evolved into televised shinny.
