TAMPA – The Tampa Bay Lightning powered their way into the NHL semifinal round - literally.
With a power play clicking at over 40-percent in series victories against Florida and Carolina, the Lightning registered 15 goals with the man advantage in 11 games, Twice they converted for three power play goals in a game.
Those 15 power play goals accounted for 39-percent of the offensive output through the opening. Take away the one shorthanded goal Tampa Bay has scored and the pair of empty netters, that leaves the Lightning with 20 goals scored at even strength, or 58-percent of the offense.
