TAMPA – In the span of four days, the Tampa Bay Lightning and Brayden Point bridged a significant gap in their negotiations to find some common ground.
Point and the Lightning agreed to a new contract on Monday, locking up one of the team's core players before the start of the regular season, even if Point won't be ready to return to the lineup when the season begins.
Just four days prior to the signing, the agent for Point, Gerry Johansson, was on Sportsnet radio in Vancouver stating that the two sides were far apart in negotiations and that he was surprised where discussions were at given...
