It would be fair to say that the penalty kill units for the Tampa Bay Lightning during the regular season left a lot to be desired. Entering the NHL playoffs, they were bringing up the rear with the second worst regular season kill percentage of the 16 teams qualifying for the postseason.
Conversely, the Lightning power play has been one of the best in the league from opening night. Finishing third in the NHL regular season converting on 23.9% of their opportunities with the man advantage.
